🍓 strawberry syrup 🍓
ingredients:
• 10 ounces frozen strawberries
• 1/4 cup maple syrup or sweetener of choice
• 1/2 cup water
• 2 teaspoons arrowroot powder (for thickening)
Instructions:
1.) In a pot over medium heat, combine frozen strawberries, maple syrup, water, and arrowroot powder. Cook the strawberries for 6 to 7 minutes until softened.
2.) Mash the mixture OR blend with immersion blender and simmer for another 5 to 6 minutes.
3.) If mashed - pour syrup through a strainer to separate the pulp OR simply pour into jar if blended. Set the syrup aside or refrigerate until ready to use. (Tip: use the pulp for an ice cream or pancake topping or compost.)
Notes:
Sweetener can be organic cane sugar or coconut sugar
Corn start can be substituted for arrowroot powder.
You can mash or blend this sauce. I personally like the thick consistency of blending, but you can certainly mash and strain if you want less texture.
